The Lives Of Others

Saw this all the way back in 2006 and to my surprise, was lucky enough to catch it (by complete chance) for the first time since then on TV tonight. Uncut thankfully. They simply don’t show movies like this on television often.

If you haven’t seen this then you’re missing out on one historical gem of a film. The acting is top notch, but the music and cinematography take it to another level. The colour in this film is inspirational to say the least. Certain scenes pop out at you in terms of camera work. The street shots, the tracking and still’s are all exceptional. It’s hard to resist the temptation of grabbing a place ticket, jumping on a flight and heading over to europe to start snapping away on some cinematic shots after watching this.

The movie won Best Foreign Language Film in 2007 and was nominated for countless other awards.
